Halmi’s Ramen Bowl
What You'll Need:
Ramen noodles (Halmi likes Shin Ramen, but choose your favorite)
2 Tbsp of neutral oil (ex: canola)
2-3 scallions, chopped (for negi oil and garnish)
Seasoning Packet from Ramen
2 cups of water
1 egg (in its shell)
1 tablespoon of your favorite peanut butter
1 egg yolk
Mayo (1-2 tablespoons)(Halmi likes Kewpie, but choose your favorite)
Soft-boiled egg (for topping)
How to Make It:
Prepare Negi Oil:
In a pot, add oil and heat it over medium heat.
Throw in half of the chopped scallions and cook until fragrant
Seasoning the Oil:
Add seasoning packet from your Ramen
Make the Broth:
Add 2 cups of water into the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.
Cook the Egg in the boiling water:
Gently add the egg (in its shell) to the pot.
Let it cook in the broth as it comes to a boil.
Cook the Noodles:
Add the ramen noodles to the pot and cook for about 3 minutes, or according to package instructions.
Prepare the Soft-Boiled Egg:
While the noodles cook, carefully take the egg out of the pot and place it in ice water to cool.
Add Peanut Butter:
Continue to boil the noodles and stir in the peanut butter to the broth, allowing it to dissolve and mix well.
Prepare the Mayo:
In a separate bowl, add the egg yolk and a dollop of mayo.
Assemble the Dish:
Once the noodles are ready, pour the hot noodles and broth into the serving bowl over the egg yolk and mayo mixture.
Garnish and Serve:
Top with your soft-boiled egg and additional scallions for garnish.
